The rates below represent our piecework and hourly rates. Project rates which may encompass several of the aspects mentioned below will be quoted on a case by case basis, depending on the complexity of the project. Not every book is the same. Some are in pretty good shape. Some need the usual amount of help, and some need major work. We charge accordingly for Line and Copy editing:
32 or 24-page Children's Picture Books = $75
Minimum Price for YA and Adult books = $400
Light editing and proofing = $5 per 1,000 words
Normal editing = $7 per 1,000 words
Heavy editing = $10 per 1,000 words
Major rewrite = $15 per 1,000 words
$6 per typeset page
Indexing $75 per hour and author supplies list of key words
Book Ghost Writing -- Project scope dependent. Normal range is from $10,000 to $30,000. It is our experience that the preponderance of time is spent acquiring information and obtaining approval for what has been written. We use experienced writers from the National Writers' Union so that good writing is assured.
$75 an hour for all other activities (not counting the above) connected to planning, coordinating, seeking the best price/best quality printer, and general project management.
COPYWRITING FEES
All activities related to the project, including planning, research, coordinating, writing, and layout. For any project that becomes a "control" (mailing same project more than once) a 2-cent royalty per piece mailed (snail mail or email) is expected.
